The story of how Harvey's journey with the "WisdomKeepers" began....
Harvey Arden shares the story of how he got involved in a project with Steve Wall, at National Geographic, that later become the subject(s) of their best selling book, Wisdomkeepers. Chief Arvol Looking Horse - 'ONE PRAYER'
StoneTree Productions produced this remarkable production.
Video Description:
"Following the birth of a White Buffalo Calf in 1994, the 19th Generation Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe of the Lakota, Dakota & Nakota Nations— Chief Arvol Looking Horse, was directed to honor the Four Directions with ceremony on Summer Solstice/June 21st. According to Lakota prophecy, the birth of “Miracle,” a female white buffalo, signaled a time of Earth changes and the coming of The Mending of the Hoop of all Nations. The Summer Solstice is said to be a powerful time to pray for peace and harmony among all Living Beings. Chief Looking Horse believes that this day of collective prayer will create an energy shift to heal the earth and achieve a universal consciousness toward obtaining peace. He believes that it is time all people understand Mother Earth is the Source of life, not a resource. WPPD has been held in the US, Costa Rica, Ireland, S Africa, Australia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Brazil. June 21st, 2017 will mark the 22nd year of World Peace and Prayer Day / Honoring Sacred Sites Day and will be held in the Hawaiian Islands and sacred sites around the world."

Harvey Speaks about his work with Indigenous Elders and his passion as a "word man"
In the video above, Harvey Arden speaks about his passion for preserving a rich and dynamic history of eclectic individuals and cultures, worldwide. A focal point throughout a good portion of his later career was to digitally record, preserve, and share the lives, stories and messages of Indigenous Elders and Leaders.
I was lucky enough to join him on various projects for over nineteen years. A common theme in the messages form these projects was the dire need to create a more harmonious world, and to re-learn the respect we need to have for the lives of every human being on this planet, and the planet itself.
There is a Lakota phrase, "Mitakuye Oyasin," which implies an interconnectedness of all our lives, in relation to all people, and also our connections with our planet, Mother Earth. I've heard the phrase described also as "We Are All Related" - and if we all trace back our ancestors far enough, guess what? We ARE All Related! This world's spiritual and ancestral roots run deep, and the threads of our lives are intertwined more than we know, or maybe want to admit. Harvey really believed that, and he wanted us to share the compassion and respect for each other, to help obtain those goals of a true human unity and experience.
Many of the Wisdomkeepers that Harvey met in his journey were some of the most amazing people you could ever meet. Everyone has their own fascinating journey and Harvey shared the stories of so many people and we are all the more rich from those experiences. He felt we should all share more, like he touches on in this clip. He wanted us to record our Elders, our families, our neighbors, the cultures of people, worldwide. We should preserve their stories, and share their legacies. If the internet is going to invade our personal lives in such a mainstream way, Harvey said, "well, let's just use it as a tool! Let's use it for goodness! Let's get the word out!" and then he's inevitably follow with "write that down, George! That's a good one!" That one was a good one. A really freaking good one!
Harvey carried a large torch and he enjoyed sharing the light from it. Hopefully there are many reading this that want to continue to carry the Light and work on bringing us all together, to focus on our commonalities, instead of our differences. Our differences make us who we are, or course....but we are all related, and we should start acting like it!
